Volunteer

Volunteering at West Hampstead Women’s Centre is a rich and rewarding experience, a great opportunity to get involved with the local community, learn new skills or rediscover old ones. Volunteers are at the heart of our centre and are essential in helping women in need achieve a better quality of life.

What skills can you offer?

The centre is always looking for volunteers with a diverse range of skills. Volunteers with previous experience in a certain field or profession can help us to enrich our services. This may range from more practical skills to expertise or knowledge in a certain topic.

What skills can you gain?

We welcome volunteers who want to gain more experience, our volunteers have the chance to take part in different training opportunities and will be given the support needed to succeed in their roles. We provide references for our volunteers, so you are able to both gain new experience and boost your CV.

Volunteering Positions

Volunteers offer a range of skills which complement the expertise of our paid staff. Many of our activities and services are delivered by volunteers including support groups, complementary therapies, and workshops. Others volunteer in reception or office roles.

Volunteers can also offer their skills on a one-off or short term basis, such as support with individual events, workshops or technical and IT expertise. We have a range of volunteering roles with different levels of involvement or commitment to suit your circumstances.

Volunteer criteria

Because the centre is aimed solely at women and provides a woman only space, all our volunteer roles are open to women only in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. This is so that our most vulnerable service users feel comfortable when accessing the centre.
