Cost: Per session – Employed £45, Low income or working less than 16 hours per week £35, Unwaged or receiving pension £15 (proof of earning required for discounted rates)

We offer massages for local women who are on benefits or low incomes who would not otherwise be able to benefit from these types of treatments. Massage can help to improve the immune system and prevent many illnesses. It can also boost blood circulation and can also help to relieve arthritis, back pain, rheumatism, stress and depression.
This project was started seven years ago to help and prevent further mental and physical health deterioration of many survivors of abuse, domestic violence, rape, depression and long term illnesses.
Massage is one of our most popular services which brings new women to the centre. Many older and disabled women as well as victims of crime are helped by the project. Many of the women accessing this service have experienced a high level of stress & physical trauma. The clients benefit from the healing properties of the essential oils and safe touch. In addition, massage relieves aches and pains, helps arthritis and muscular problems and improves the digestive and immune system. Massage works holistically on the mind, body and spirit.
In the past year we’ve seen an increase in ladies who have serious mobility problems, which necessitates the use of a wheelchair or walker. The use of a ramp to the treatment room is useful for ease of access and the provision of a massage chair provides an alternative for ladies who have difficulty receiving table treatments. This service makes a huge difference to these ladies, who tend to have pain and circulation issues due to their restricted movement. They attend regularly and appreciate the therapeutic and relaxing benefits of the treatment, which improves their quality of life. WHWC is pleased to provide this much needed service.
